How Long Should a Spa Cover Last?

When you are in the market for a spa cover more than likely the question at the top of your list is how long should you expect the spa cover to last? The question may seem pretty direct, but the answer greatly depends on two things: the environment and the owner. It’s important to examine both of these to make your spa cover have a longer lifespan.

First, take a look at the environment that you live in. Areas that have harsh climates that receive a steady downpour of snow or rain will cause your spa cover to be more susceptible to wear and tear. Don’t assume, however, that because you live in a really sunny area that you are safe. Constant sun exposure is your spa cover’s number one adversary. Of course, there is not much you can do about the environment in which you live, but you can set yourself up for the longest-lasting spa cover if you just follow a few simple tips.

One thing you can do in areas that get a lot of precipitation is to be sure to clear your spa cover of heavy rain or snowfall. A simple gesture of wiping away aspa cover with snow buildup of precipitation can add years to your spa cover’s life! This rings true with any other debris that happens to fall on your spa cover. Never allow anything heavy to rest on your spa cover for a long period of time. Don’t allow children or pets to play on the spa cover as that could also cause premature wear and tear.

Another thing to consider that will help your spa cover last longer is how you put chemicals in your spa. Sometimes, spa owners get into a really bad habit of keeping the spa cover on when treating the water. Don’t do this! The spa cover is not designed to withstand constant exposure to chemicals. Instead, simply remove the spa cover and then process. It may take a few proceed with the chemical extra moments, but this will guarantee that your spa cover lasts much longer.

While you may still be wondering how long your spa cover can last most of the answer depends on the type of spa owner that you are. If you take the time to take care of the spa cover it can last well over five years. However, if you allow debris to swamp your spa cover then it could easily be ruined within a year. The best advice is to take care of your spa cover to the best of your ability and you should be able to get your money’s worth in good use over the next several years.
